Key focus areas of NRI’s collaborative research and development work include:

1. Overcoming emergent diseases threatening cassava production
2. Adding value through processing and business development
3. Managing waste within the value chain for economic returns
4. Strengthening the capacity of developing country scientists and practitioners

The first three of these key areas involve all actors in the value chain from farm to fork. The fourth is a cross-cutting area, ensuring that farmers, processors, entrepreneurs and scientists receive the benefit of relevant training and physical infrastructure to support their work.
